New Delhi: The first ever week-long annual arts festival, organised by the India International Centre (IIC), focusing North East and the World War One will begin next Thursday with a concert of musical folks from Meghalaya.

The IIC will launch its 11th Festival of Arts with a range of music and dance performances, exhibitions, films and food on October 9 mostly from the North East. The focus on the region would be highlighted by a photographic exhibition on Stilwell Road, which runs from Assam to Yunnan province of China, by British journalist Findlay Kember, who captured the entire length of the road during his own journey.

Former Solicitor General, Soli J Sorabjee will inaugurate the festival where artists from Meghalaya will play the concert. The artists will also present an evening of music, storytelling and recitations from the Khasi-Jaintia hills.

The centenary of the outbreak of The Great War will be marked by poetry readings and a series of 12 international feature films on the war that changed the course of the world.
