SHILLONG: Tennydard Marak, who is pursuing the ST status issue of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, has been summoned to appear in Williamnagar PS on Monday in connection with an election case under Section 171F/506 of Indian Penal Code.

While 171F is punishment for undue influence or impersonation at an election, Section 506 speaks about criminal intimidation. However, details were not mentioned in the summon.

The officer in charge of Williamnagar PS has also warned of legal action if Tennydard does not turn up on October 6.

However, since the details of the case are not known, Tennydard through a letter on October 3, sought 45 days’ time to respond to the summon due to preoccupation. The copies of the letter were also sent to the Home department and also to both the SP and the DC of East Garo Hills.
