A guitar that Beatles star John Lennon played on the recording of ‘Paperback Writer’ is expected to fetch as much as USD 1 million at the auction. The online bidding will begin on 14 November.
The late musician had given his Gretsch 6120 guitar to his cousin, reported The Independent.
“I was just cheeky enough to ask John for one of his spare guitars. I had my eye on a blue Fender Stratocaster lying in the studio, but John suggested the Gretsch and gave it to me,” Birch said.
TracksAuction.com said on Sunday that this casual favour meant Birch was now in possession of one of the most significant of Lennon’s guitars to come on to the market in the past 30 years. (PTI)
