City taxi driver allegedly rapes girl after abduction

A 16-year-old girl of Nongrah, Shillong, who was reported missing on October 4, was found on October 5 at around noon, at Nongmynsong Bazar, Shillong, and was later handed over to the relatives. During investigation, the victim informed that she had been abducted by an unidentified taxi driver from Nongmynsong to Golf Links, Shillong where she was sexually assaulted.

Bodies recovered

On October 6 one unidentified male person was found lying on a footpath at Mawlonghat, Shillong and was removed to CH Shillong.

On October 6 around 10 am, Bisbar Khongjah (55) was found lying dead in a tea stall near Student’s Field, Jaiaw Pdeng, Shillong. Necessary formalities have been observed and matter is under enquiry.

On October 6 around 6 pm, one Laitsuk Syiemlieh (40) was found lying dead near M/s BSC C&C Company at Kynshi (WKH).

Mother stabs daughter

One Harnes Kharsyntiew lodged a complaint at Mairang police station that on October 3 at around 3 pm, a woman identified as Trian Mawblei (67) stabbed her daughter Iris Mawblei (38) with a knife at Kynrud village (WKH). As a result the victim sustained grievous injuries and was removed to TSM Hospital, Mairang and later referred to NEIGRIHMS, Shillong. Police arrested the accused.

NGT ban violation

On October 4 at around 1 am, Police while on vehicle checking duty detected four coal laden trucks – ML-05H-9855 driven by Elisha Maring, ML-05G8258 driven by Kyntiewborlang Warlarpih, AS-01DD-5771 driven by Wanphailang and AS-01-BC-8425 driven by Jikandra Nongspung at Mawsawa (WKH). Police arrested the drivers and seized the trucks.

Bangladeshi held

On October 4 at around 7.30 am, one Bangladesh national identified as Md. Johet Ali of Ronai Badaghat, district Sumanganj, Bangladesh was apprehended by the BSF patrolling personnel near Border Pillar No. 1203/M at Ranikor in South West Khasi Hills and handed over to the Police. Police recovered and seized 28 packets of Biri, one Winmax mobile phone with Grameen SIM card from his possession.

Smugglers held

On Oct 4 at around 8.30 am, two persons Supiral Sangma and Martin R Marak were arrested from Simsang River, Rongaigittim in South Garo Hills while transporting coal and timber logs for smuggling to Bangladesh.

Minor abducted

A woman identified as Namallina S Marak lodged a complaint at Tura police station that on October 3, one Zamir Ch Marak abducted her sister (14) from her residence at Burny Hills, Tura (WGH). The accused also assaulted the complainant at Petra Akong, Matchakolgre, Tura (WGH) when she went to bring back her sister. The victim is now safe with the complainant.

Body fished out

On October 1, one Kolden Paliar while fishing at river Phria, Mawthabah (SWKH) accidentally slipped and was drowned in the river. The body was fished out of the river and handed over to the relatives after observing necessary formalities.

Fake birth certificate

Dr. Manas Kr. Kar, Medical and Health Officer, Ichamati CHC lodged a complaint at Shella PS that on September 15, he detected one fake birth certificate in the name of Amit Debnath.

Hit-and-run case

On October 8 around 6.45 am, one Maruti Alto car (ML-06-3668) driven by Fredrick Nongrang (34) knocked down two persons Skiar Marbaniang and Wellson Marbaniang at Rangshken under Mawngap OP (EKH). Victims sustained injuries and were shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong. Matter is under enquiry.

Rape attempt

On October 5 around 10 am, one Laldin Zuala Nongkynrih (20) allegedly attempted to rape one sixteen-year-old girl in her house at Thynroit village under Madanrting PS (EKH). Victim was shifted to Nazareth Hospital, Shillong. Matter is under enquiry.

Threat

Stodar Dkhar lodged a complaint at Shella PS that on Oct 4, one J. Keniar Warjri fired one shot in the air and threatened him with dire consequences at his (complainant) limestone quarry at Pholaitshret, Ichamati (EKH).

Assault

On October 4 around 10 pm, one Batdarson L Mawnai (27) assaulted his brother Cleverson L Mawnai (25) with a machete at Nongrang village (WKH). Victim sustained injuries and was shifted to TSM Hospital, Mairang.

Looting case

On Oct 3 around 10 pm, masked miscreants numbering 5-6 and armed with pistol went to the residence of Drekshon Syiem at Mawroh village (WKH) and looted three cell-phones, cash Rs. 1,000 and gold from his wife.

Vehicle theft

On October 2 night, unknown miscreants stole one Maruti car (ML-05D-9931) belonging to Jyotsna Rani from near M/s Meghalaya Oxygen Gas Agency, Zigzag Road, Rilbong, Shillong.

Extortion demand

Benjamin A. Sangma lodged a complaint at Tura PS that on September 3 around 10.30 am, he received a phone call in which the anonymous caller demanded Rs. 5 lakh from him with an instruction to pay the amount before November 23, 2014.

Theft cases

Ram Chandra Gora lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah PS that on Sept 30 night, unknown miscreants broke into his workshop M/s BB Steels at Demseiniong, Shillong and stole two cutting machines, cutting blades and welding rods valued around Rs. 53,600.

Sanbor Jyrwa lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah PS that on Sept 30 night, unknown miscreants broke into his workshop viz., M/s DS Enterprise at Demseiniong, Shillong and stole two cutting machines and grinders valued around Rs. 2,500.
