No salary for MCCL staff

SHILLONG: The empl-oyees of the Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL) have sought intervention of the State Government for immediate release of their salaries.

The MCCL has not been able to pay salaries to its employees for the past few months since it has stop its operation following the ban of the NGT on rat hole mining in the State.

“We urge the State government to find out a solution to relieve us and our family members from starvation,” Mawmluh Cherra Cements Employees Union (MCCEU) general secretary S Wahlang said in a letter to the Chief Secretary PBO Warjri here on Thursday.

Wahlang has revealed in the letter that the cement factory had to stop its operation of the plant due non supply of coal following the NGT ban

“Due to this, the company had failed to pay the salaries and wages for two months (August and September),” he said.

Earlier, the company had cleared the salaries of the employees till July this year.
