Nongthymmai SC launches football academy
Shillong: The Nongthymmai Sports Club which is one of the prominent clubs in the state which has produced numbers of State player and National player as well in recent years is launching its own football academy at Nongthymmai Football Ground on 11.10.2014 at 9.00 AM.Smti.QueencyPassah, w/o (L) Frank Dohling, Ex-Football Secy. NSCC) will grace the Inauguration function as Chief Guest. The main objective behind the academy is to tap the young talent and maximise their potential through proper training and to develop the abilities of player to enable them to have a successful career in football. We are targeting the age group between 10 to 15 years. The Club has already received 40 nos of applicants enrolled in the Academy. Nongthymmai Football Academy has been developed within the jurisdiction of Nongthymmai Sports Club and is open to everyone. We hope that the academy will bring benefits to each and every playerin a more coherent, tolerant and organised manner.
ISL signs up six brands as sponsor partners
New Delhi: The Indian Super League today announced its association with six iconic brands from diverse industry verticals as sponsors and partners for the tournament starting on this Sunday. The opening ceremony of the league will be telecast on eight channels of star network. Joining Hero MotoCorp Ltd, the title sponsor, is Maruti Suzuki, which has signed up as the associate sponsor. The ISL is not limited only to automobile manufacturers as leading brands across industry verticals like the FMCG sector, Finance and Sports have all signed up in support of the league. PepsiCo India and Amul are two of India’s leading FMCG brands that have signed up as official partners. The Muthoot Group, along with Puma and Dr Reddy’s Nise Gel have also signed up as official partners. Sanjay Gupta, COO, Star India mentioned, “We are a few days away from the kick-off of the Hero Indian Super League and it has gained excellent traction as is evident in the number of sponsors lined up to support the league. Delhi outplay Kerala in Youth National Basketball
Chandigarh: Defending champions Delhi boys maintained their unbeaten record as they outplayed Kerala by 75-59 in the 31st Youth National Basketball Championship here on Thursday. The Delhi boys used their size and height to their advantage to score a win with a comfortable margin of 16 points. Sombir (28) and Hansraj (19) emerged the star performers for Delhi who lost the first quarter by 16-17 and second by 12-16 before bouncing back into the game with a vengeance. The Delhi boys won the third quarter by 27-17 and the fourth by 20-16 to clinch the match.The Maharashtra boys set the tournament team scoring record, thus far, scoring 100 points against Andhra Pradesh, who managed to put up only 72 points. Multiple players for Maharashtra scored in double figures, with Mearaj and Talha top scoring with 27 and 23 points respectively. There were no real surprises in the girls matches, with the stronger teams picking up easy victories. Tamil Nadu handed West Bengal an embarrassing defeat, beating them by a margin of 53 points with a 64-11 win. India senior women’s team coach Francisco Garcia was spotted after the match congratulating some of the Tamil Nadu players. Kerala picked up an easy win against Uttar Pradesh on a balanced scoring effort, beating them 66-22, while Maharashtra (57-24) and Delhi (53-26) cruised to easy victories against Punjab and Puducherry respectively.
