BGB refusal to accept B’deshi national

SHILLONG: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has refused to accept a Bangladeshi national who was arrested from Saikarap village near Shella in East Khasi Hills district.

One Sophing Laitmon on October 11 apprehended one suspected Bangladesh national Md. Jaibul Rahman and subsequently handed him over to BSF.

However, the BGB refused accept the person during the flag meeting held with BSF on the same day.

According BSF sources, the apprehended person was mentally retarded and he was not able to reveal his identity and “BGB usually does not accept any person whose identity is not known.”

“Finding no other alternative we had to hand him over to police,” a BSF official said.
