Youths get 3 years jail term for robbing man
New Delhi: Two youths have been sentenced to three years in jail by a Delhi court for injuring a man while robbing him off his valuables at his residence here. Additional Sessions Judge Rajeev Bansal handed down the jail term to south Delhi residents, Amit Vishwakarma and Raju Dass, for robbing one Kishore Kumar off gold jewellery and two mobile phones after injuring him with a cricket bat. “Both the convicts jointly robbed Kishore of his gold chain with locket, gold bangle and his two mobile phones after injuring him with a cricket bat. The valuables were recovered from both the convicts. Kishore received injuries at the hands of the convicts,” the judge said, while convicting them. While taking into consideration the family circumstances of Amit, who has a minor daughter and Raju, who has a younger sister too look after, the court awarded them a jail term of three years each for the offence of voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery under section 394 of the IPC, which entails a maximum punishment of life imprisonment. “Amit has clearly stated that not only Raju, but he himself was also involved in the commission of crime and they both gave beatings to Kishore and robbed him of his gold chain with locket, bangle and two mobile phones. “Thus, the statement of Amit recorded is inculpatory in nature as he has not only attributed the offence to the co-accused Raju, but also owned responsibility of committing the offence,” it said. According to prosecution, Kishore had alleged that on November 26, 2010, two boys entered his house and committed robbery after hitting him with a cricket bat.(PTI)
LJP leader Ramyas Singh held
Bhabhua: Police arrested LJP leader Ramyas Singh Sushwaha apprehending trouble by him and his supporters during the inauguration of Durgawati Irrigation Project by Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi here on wednesday. District police superintendent Puskar Anand said here that Mr Kushwaha had threatened to protest during the inauguration of Durgawati Irrigation Project by Mr Manjhi to pressure the state government to release the water into the Kudra river and canal simultaneously from the Durgawati reservoir. On the other hand, former water resources minister and senior RJD leader Jagdanand Singh had demanded that water from Durgawati reservoir should be released only in Kudra river for irrigation. Mr Singh and his supporters had planned an agitation in support of their demand, he added. Apprehending that Mr Kushwaha and his supporters might clash with Mr Singh and his supporters during the inauguration of the project, police arrested Mr Kushwaha from his residence in Bhabhua on wednesday as a preventive measure, Mr Anand informed.(UNI)
Delhi teenager kidnapped, murdered by three friends
New Delhi: An 18-year-old boy was kidnapped, strangled and shot by his three friends including a juvenile, police said on wednesday.Police said they have arrested two men and apprehended a juvenile.Shiva Kalra, a class 12 student, was kidnapped and taken to Haryana’s Murthal where the assailants first strangled him and pumped three bullets in his chest before setting his body in fire Oct 11, police said. His family had lodged a missing complaint at Rohini North police station on the same day when he did not return home. Haryana Police on wednesday evening contacted Delhi Police informing them about a half charred body found in Murthal. The body was identified as of Kalra’s by his parents. Police suspect a love angle behind the murder. The accused are being questioned.(IANS)
Two women constables suspended for indulging brawl
Guntur: Two women constables, who quarreled over an alleged illicit relationship, were suspended by Superintendent of Police (SP) Rama Krishna here on wednesday. Police said, last night a woman constable R Sridevi, attached to the women police station, went to the house of another women constable Vijaya Lakshmi, working in the Pattabhipuram Police station, along with her mother and a few relatives. There she allegedly found her husband Wesly Charles, who also a constable, n a compromising position with Vijaya Lakshmi. An angry Sridevi who was in uniform, attacked her colleague Vijaya Lakshmi and attacked her. Sridevi’s mother also slapped her son-in-law. Later, Sridevi along with her mother squatted in front the Pattabhipuram police station alleging that her husband was having an illicit relationship with Vijaya Lakshmi and demanded justice. The incidents were video graphed by channels and telecast. Angered that the incident degraded the police department, the SP suspended the two woman constables.(UNI)
Two injured in firing in Sirsa
Chandigarh:Two persons were on Wednesday injured in firing during a clash between two groups in Modia Khera village in Sirsa district, police said. One person sustained serious injuries and has been rushed to a hospital, Sirsa Superintendent of Police, Mitesh Jain, said. Asked if the clash occurred between supporters of two rival parties, since polling is underway in Haryana today, Jain said, “we are investigating”. Former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda, is contesting from Sirsa. He now heads the Haryana Lokhit Party.(PTI)
