SHILLONG: Bansharai Sunn displayed a stellar performance on Saturday to help Rangdajied clinch a 2-1 victory over rivals Royal Wahingdoh in their second leg Imperial Blue Shillong Premiere League match at Polo Grounds here in Shillong.
Bansharai, the seasoned midfielder, scored a brace for the blues after they faced early pressure from the Royals who collected as many as ten corners throughout the match.
Earlier, Bansharai found his position inside the penalty box and picked up a short pass before chipping the ball over keeper Prem Singh in the 28th minute for the first goal.
However, his goal was equallised in the 56th minute by Wahingdoh’s Zosangkima who powered in a long range shot that left the Blues’ goalkeeper Shambhu Mistry in  helpless.
Ten minutes later, Rangdajied were given another opportunity with a penalty but Joel Ayeni’s shot was stopped by Prem to deny the SPL defending champions to make their second lead.
While the game was heading towards a draw, Bansharai had other ideas and came up with another beautiful goal in the 83rd minutes to guide the Blues to a tight 2-1 finish.
Meanwhile, ARC Shillong scored two goals over Lumshyiap  to finish the game by 2-0 win in a Second Division match.
R. Lalrawmawia scored in the 49th minute  followed by another, four minutes later, goal from J. Kuki for a convincing win.
