New Delhi: Newly-appointed AICC general secretary in charge of Meghalaya, V. Narayanasamy, will visit Shillong on November 5 for two days, MPCC president D.D. Lapang said here on Sunday after a meeting with the former.

Lapang also met former AICC general secretary in charge of the State, Oscar Fernandes and senior party leader Janardan Dwivedi during his stay here.

“I discussed the state of affairs of the party in Meghalaya with the central leaders,” the former Chief Minister said.

Narayanasamy wanted to strengthen the party from the grass root level through various programmes and stressed on unity of the party and close coordination between the Government and the party, Lapang said after the meeting.

In this critical juncture the party cannot afford to remain disunited, Narayanasamy told the MPCC chief, and advised Lapang to act as a bridge between the AICC and the party’s State unit.

Narayanasamy is also scheduled to visit other Northeastern states barring Assam.
