Jammu: In yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistani Rangers Sunday resorted to small arms firing on forward Border Outposts (BoPs) along the international border in Jammu district.
“Pakistani Rangers resorted to small arms firing at BoPs along IB in Pargwal sectors of Jammu district around 1030 hours this morning,” District Magistrate of Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu said.
“Their aim was to prevent farmers from harvesting their crops,” he claimed. As per reports, the areas which came under firing from across the border included Jaman Bela, Rajpurs, Maljudh, Chak Phagwari, Deora and Himarpur Kona BoPs in Pargwal and Jourian areas of Akhnoor.
BSF troops retaliated resulting in firing exchange, the district magistrate said adding that there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing.
There has been five cases of ceasefire violation along the international border and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Poonch districts in the past three days.
Around 30,000 people have fled their border homes leaving 113 hamlets deserted along the international border. (PTI)
