Census

The Secretary, Community and Rural Development Department, has informed that the Meghalaya Governor has revised the timeline for Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011 (SECC- 2011) for Jaintia Hills till October 30, while for East Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills the timeline has been extended till November 18 and for Ri Bhoi district the extension will be till November 28.

Musical programme

KC Secondary School, Shillong, will stage a musical entitled “Believe: The Story of the Wiz” on October 24 and 25 from 4.30 pm onwards at the school campus.

Aqua fest

Meghalaya State Aqua Fest 2014, organised by the Department of Fisheries, will be held on October 22 at the State Central Library from 10 am.

Get together

As part of the celebration of the completion of 100 years of Combined Amateur Club, the working committee will be holding a get together on October 25 at 3 pm at the Dorbar Hall, Mission Compound.

Wine Festival

The 12th Shillong Wine Festival will be held on November 8 on the premises of the State Central Library. Wine makers from the State and other states from the North Eastern region have been invited to take part in the Festival.

Workshop

North East Educational & Development Society (NEEDS) in collaboration with the DC’s Office, East Khasi Hills, under CMYDS organized a one-day workshop on Family Planning, HIV/AIDS and Adolescent Pregnancy for 200 school students under Hima Lyngiong.

The District Basin Development Unit, West Jaintia Hills, will conduct a one-day workshop on conservation and promotion of medicinal and aromatic plants on October 21 at 10 am at District Library Auditorium, Jowai.

CPI meet

A public meeting was held in the party office of the Communist Party of India recently with Banadhir Gupta Roy in the chair to observe the first meeting of the centenary celebrations of com. Bhupesh Gupta.

Teachers’ meet

The General meeting of All Meghalaya Primary School Teachers’ Association and All Garo Hills Lower Primary School Teachers’ Association has adopted a resolution that all the members of AMPSTA who secured below 45 per cent marks in the HSSLC examination with effect from September 3, 2011, must appear the HSSLC Examination 2015. AMPSTA members have been asked to come forward without any fear and appear in the examination for their bright future.
