SHILLONG: BSF men of Shillong Frontier paid homage to 642 martyrs of all Central armed police forces and State police organizations on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day at BSF Headquarters in Mawpat on Tuesday.

On the occasion, DIG Mahendra Singh laid wreath at the War Memorial and paid homage to the martyrs.

These martyrs laid down their lives while performing their duties during 2013-14. Among the dead were 42 BSF personnel who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.

Police Commemoration Day is observed on October 21 every year in remembrance of the 10 CRPF personnel who were killed on that date in 1959 at Hot Spring post in Laddakh on Indo-China border.
