Man found dead in Kerela railway tracks
Malappuram: A man allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train at Kuttippuram railway station in Malappuram district of Kerala on Wednesday. Police said the body of the unidentified man found on the railway track this morning, has been sent to Kozhikode Medical College for post-mortem. Police, however, ruled out to confirm reports that the body found on the tracks resembled to that of the culprit who set ablaze a woman on board, at a stationary train in Kannur railway station two days ago. Pathutty alias Khadeeja (50), wife of Hassan, Vellayil House, Kondotty in Malappuram district, who suffered severe burn injuries succumbed to death in Kozhikode Medical College on October 20 night. She was set on fire by an unidentified man by pouring alcohol in a compartment of Kannur-Alappuzha Executive Express on the first platform of Kannur railway station in the wee hours of October 20. The police team probing the case had released the sketch of the culprit on the information collected from the passengers who were present on the platform when the incident took place. (UNI)
Deaf-dumb girl ‘molested’ in chowki; Police deny
New Delhi:An 18-year-old deaf and dumb girl was allegedly “molested” by police officials at Bhogal police chowki in south Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin area during an argument over an incident last night, sources said here on Wednesday. According to sources, the elder sister of the girl has alleged that the chowki in-charge misbehaved with them and molested her and her younger sibling. However, when contacted, a senior police officer told UNI over phone that the deaf and dumb girl was brought to the chowki by a beat constable after she was found loitering in the area in an alleged inebriated condition. “We did not misbehave with anybody. The girl’s family members are lying. We informed the girl’s family, after which her father and elder sister came there,” he said adding, “instead of appreciating our efforts, the family misbehaved with us and they started shouting at the policemen.” “Then an argument broke out between them during which the chowki in-charge slapped the girl’s father,” an officer said. Sources said the girl’s family has filed a complaint the against the Bhogal police chowki in-charge at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station. Police is now further investigating the issue. (UNI)
Man kills wife for objecting to his affair
Gurgaon: A 53-year-old businessman Wednesday shot his wife nine times, killing her on the spot, after she objected to his extramarital affair, police said.Deepak Khurana shot his 50-year-old wife Alka Khurana with his licensed pistol in their flat in Palam Vihar area here around noon. “Khurana, who runs a furniture factory, had extramarital affairs. His wife Alka objected to his illicit relations. He shot her after a heated argument,” police officer Moolchand told IANS.The couple’s married son, who is a pilot, lives in Indonesia, while their daughter lives in Janakpuri area of Delhi with her family.Khurana was detained and a police case registered.(IANS)
Three Maoists arrested in C’garh
Raipur:Three Maoists were arrested from separate places in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Bastar region, police said on Wednesday. Two hardcore cadres – Jilaram Jaggu (24) and Manaru (28)- were nabbed by the Special Task Force from Geedam police station limits of Dantewada district last evening, Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap told PTI. Acting on a tip-off that the ultras had arrived at their native Arla village in Geedam region, around 450 kms from the state capital, a squad of STF was mobilised towards the place, Kashyap said. After encircling the village, the security personnel nabbed the two Naxals, who were involved in an attack on police party, abduction and various other offences in the region, he said. In another incident, a rebel was apprehended from Kanker district’s Antagarh police station region. Mangau Ram (36) was caught by a joint team of district police and Border Security Force while he was keeping a tab on the movement of security personnel in Upperkamta forest, a police officer said. Home guard killed in mishap
Muzaffarnagar:A home guard was killed and police constable seriously injured when a bike in which they were travelling collided with a speeding truck at Shamli, police said today. Ramkumar Saini was killed and Charansingh seriously injured when their bike collided with the speeding truck yesterday, they said. The incident took place when security personals were on duty, Deputy Superintendent of Police Nishank Sharma said. In another incident, a 55-year-old vegetable grower was killed and 12 others were injured when a truck in which they were travelling turned over and fell into a ditch at Budhana in the district, police said. The incident took place yesterday when the vegetable growers were returning from Mandi after selling their crops, they said, adding the injured have been shifted to a hospital. (PTI)
