Tension at Langpih after fresh clash

NONGSTOIN: The village of Langpih on the Meghalaya-Assam border is tense again after a clash between two communities reportedly left many injured.

Several people from Mawdiangsnam village were injured in the clash which took place on Wednesday afternoon at Mawdiangsnam, near Langpih.

The clash broke out after people from a particular community from Mawdiangsnam village blocked a road.

Subsequently, a group of people from another community went to Assam Police Outpost and reported the matter. After getting information on the matter the IC of Meghalaya Police stationed at Langpih went to the Assam Police Outpost to discuss the matter. But the discussion, however, remained inconclusive, sources said.

A police team along with a magistrate rushed to Langpih to take stock of the situation.
