Expansion of EC

SHILLONG: The HSPDP has hinted that the party will not have any problem in accepting KHADC CEM’s proposal to expand the EC after the upcoming session of the council.

“We have agreed to support the EC led by Adelbert Nongrum on principle. I am sure that the party will accept the request of the CEM,” the HSPDP leader in KHADC KP Pangngiang said here on Thursday.

The HSPDP has been demanding induction of another party MDC in the EC ever since Nongrum assumed charge as the CEM.

He, however, informed that the party was yet to meet to discuss letter written by the CEM in this regard.

“We have not been able to meet since majority of the MDCs of the party are pre-occupied. We are expecting to discuss the letter in the next few days,” the HSPDP leader said.

Earlier, Nongrum said he had decided to seek more time before inducting another member from the HSPDP as an Executive Member (EM) in the new EC.

“I have requested the HSPDP to wait till the end of the upcoming Session of the Council. Once the session is over, I will induct an MDC from the HSPDP in the EC,” the KHADC CEM had stated.

Interestingly, HSPDP in a letter addressed to CEM had said two EMs of the party would not accept any portfolio till another party MDC was inducted in the EC
