Two traders abducted near Chibinang

TURA: Two petty traders who had to come to sell their wares at Bamundanga weekly market in Chibinang area have been abducted by armed men on Saturday morning.

The two traders, Manzul Sheikh and Habibul Sheikh, had gone to the weekly market to sell their produce when a group of armed men came to the site and fired some rounds in the air to scare away the public before kidnapping the two petty traders.

Following the incident operations have been launched in the area by West Garo Hills police.

“We have sent our forces to the area and operations are currently underway to rescue the victims. The identity of the kidnappers is yet to be known but the UALA, ASAK and AMEF militants also operate in the area,” informed district police chief in charge B A Sangma.
