Nagaland HM appeals to rebels not to derail peace process
Kohima:Nagaland Home Minister Y Patton has appealed both the warring NSCN groups to settle the issues amicably in the larger interest of the Naga society as the state cannot afford to damage the hard-earned peace due to internal misadventures. In a release on Sunday, Mr Patton, while reacting against the bomb blasts that took place in Dimapur and Mokokchung on Friday, said such violence was not the answer for any issues and called every right thinking citizen to condemn such violence. Expressing anguish over the two incidents, Mr Patton said had there been any misunderstandings or discontentment among the warring parties, it should be sorted out amicably in the spirit of brotherhood but not resort to violence which only affects the psychology of the peace loving citizens but also creates commotions in society. On the quit notice issued between the two families of NSCN (K) and GPRN/NSCN (KK), Mr Patton also directed all the district administrations and the police to ensure strict vigil to avoid recurrence of such incidents in their respective districts and to book the culprits at the earliest, the release said. This is my commitment to the people of Arunachal. If I fail to fulfill my commitment I do not think I will be able to face the people,” a confident Rijiju exuded. “The Centre has identified Arunachal Pradesh as a sensitive border state; therefore one-time relaxation was taken into account, sidelining the usual population criterion norm, for this ambitious work,” he said, adding that if the present norm of population criteria followed then the border villages in the state would remain unconnected. He also divulged that villages along the Sino-Indian border that are bereft of the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) facilities would be given rice free of cost.(UNI)
