Nongkrem Dance

All government offices, revenue and magisterial courts, and educational institutions in the East Khasi Hills District will remain closed on October 31 on account of Nongkrem Dance. The state holiday was announced by the Principal Secretary, General Administration Department.

Eye camp

Citizens Foundation, a Jharkhand-based NGO, in collaboration with Bansara Eye Care Centre organized a free eye check-up-cum cataract screening camp on October 25. Ichamati CHC, the place where the camp was held,  is run by Citizen’s Foundation under PPP Mode with the  Government of Meghalaya. Out of the total of 407 patients who turned up for the camp, 40 people were detected with cataract.

Alumni meet

An alumni meet is being organized by the St. George Higher Secondary School, Nongmynsong, at 4 pm on October 31 at the school premises. All past pupils have been requested to attend the event.

Popular talk

The Department of Sociology, St. Mary’s College will organize a Popular Talk by Toki Blah based on the theme “My Shillong a Clean Shillong” in the college auditorium at 2 pm on October 28.

Chhath Puja

Central Government Employees Residence Welfare Association, AG Quarters, Motinagar, Shillong will organise a Chhath Puja on October 28 in the locality.

Album release

A gospel album entitled “The Answer” is set to be released at the Shillong Press Club at 10.30 am on October 29. The occasion will be graced by Parliamentary Secretary Government of Meghalaya Kennedy C. Khyriem as the chief guest.
