SHILLONG: The demand for change of leadership in Congress Legislature Party is alive, though dormant at the moment, according to sources from the dissident group.

The Congress leaders including MPCC president DD Lapang and SC Marak had met the party president Sonia Gandhi on August 27 and conveyed the displeasure of legislators over the style of functioning of the Chief Minister

Subsequently, it was on September 5 that the outgoing AICC leader in charge Meghalaya Luizinho Faleiro supported the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to continue in power during the Congress Legislature Party meeting.

However, due to the natural calamity in Garo Hills, there was a lull on the dissident activities.

When contacted, the former Chief Minster SC Marak on Tuesday said, “The demand is still alive, though it is dormant now, but we need to have discussion with the new AICC leader in charge Meghalaya”
