SPL: MLP edge past Nangkiew 2-1

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Police registered a 2-1 win after an own goal by Nangkiew’s S. Kane gave the cops the upperhand early on in an Imperial Blue Shillong Premiere League match at JN Sports Complex here on Tuesday.

Kane handed the lead to Meghalaya Police after scoring an own goal in the 7th minute.

However, Nangkiew pulled one back through S Harry to restore parity in the 31st minute. But a late 86th minute strike by S. Sangma ensured a timely 2-1 victory for Meghalaya Police .

Meanwhile, Mawkhar pierced through Mawpat 4-1 in a Second Division match. A. Khongwir emerged as the star for Mawkhar striking it the 10th, 34th and 44th minutes.

G. Blah also contributed one to Mawkhar’s tally in the 70th minute. Mawpat were saved the blushes after P. Pyngrope restored some pride for his side by scoring a goal in the 35th minute.

Meanwhile, in a Third Division game, Madanryting trounced Kharang 4-1.

M. Haokin (1″), H. Kharkongor (5″ & 21″) and G. Tung Zou (14″) were the scorers for Madanryting. Kharang’s only goal was scored by B. Rynjah in the 18th minute.
