KSU, FKJGP members arrested, freed

SHILLONG: Police picked up 11 members of two pressure groups after they prevented FCI godown-bound trucks entering Mawlai on Thursday.

A police team picked up ten KSU members and one FKJGP members when they were patrolling the area near Mawlai petrol pump.

Police assaulted the members of the NGOs, FKJGP’s Mawlai Circle leader Marbud Dkhar told newsmen.

Meanwhile, the members of the KSU and FKJGP were released after the leaders of the two pressure groups met East Khasi Hills police chief M Kharkrang.

The KSU and FKJGP had decided to launch a protest against the inaction of the state government to address the congestion problem due to entry of fourteen wheeler trucks to Mawlai area besides their unsystematic parking.
