JOWAI: The office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District observed the National Disaster Management Day on Wednesday by organising a procession in Jowai.
School and college students, Police department, Health department, Home Guards and others actively participated in the march that was organized from Kiang Nangbah Playground to Jrisalein Playground via Ladthadlaboh, Newhill, Iawmusiang and Chutwakhu localities.
The march was flagged off by Extra Assistant Commissioner R. Kharbihkhiew.
Ri Bhoi District Administration also observed National Disaster Reduction Day at the Science and DRDA Halls, Nongpoh on Wednesday.
