SHILLONG: While the State Police has been put on high alert over possible presence of sleeper ‘terror’ cells in Meghalaya in view of the State’s porous border with Bangladesh, the BSF has denied having any input on such activities in the State.

A BSF official on Friday informed that the border force had no information on the presence of any sleeper cell in Meghalaya.

The BSF official, however, stated that the troopers were taking precautions and were maintaining extra vigil on the border.

Certain pockets in Meghalaya’s plain belt region in Garo Hills having close proximity to Assam and Bangladesh have been put under tight vigil following the National Investigation Agency’s close monitoring of the scene in Assam and Meghalaya as part of its investigation into the Burdwan (West Bengal) blasts.
