Cabbie held for assaulting media persons

SHILLONG: City Police have picked up a local cabbie for allegedly assaulting press reporters near Ward’s Lake on Thursday night.

Police informed that one Raju Jamatia (31) of Lapalang and other unidentified miscreants allegedly assaulted Jona Diengdoh, Geoffry Kharkongor and Sameer Sohliya near Ward’s Lake, Shillong on Thursday night. Victims sustained injuries and were shifted to Civil Hospital.

Police have seized a local taxi (ML 05K7554) in this connection and efforts were on to arrest others involved in the crime.
