SHILLONG: The Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) on Personnel, Public Grievances and Law is silent on the NGT ban on coal mining saying that nothing has been discussed so far.

Earlier it was reported that the Movement for Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Livelihood (MIPRL) had submitted a representation to the PSC on the plight of people due to the ban on coal mining.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, the PSC chairman EM Sudarsana Natchiappan said that no specific grievance pertaining to NGT ban was raised before the Commission.

RTI APPLICATIONS: Natchiappan said the State of Meghalaya should propagate extensive use of RTI by people across the state even as he said that it is everyone’s right to get information from any department of the Government.

Stating that very less number of RTI applications is filed in Meghalaya, Natchiappan said that the Committee has asked the concerned departments to put up all the information and tools for the use the RTI in their website.
