‘Inquiry report should be made public within November 7’

JOWAI: Jaintia Hills pressure groups including Jaintia Students’ Movement, Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement, Meghalaya People Youth Front, Hynniewtrep National Youth Front, Rilum Jaintia Youth Federation, Khasi Students’ Movement, All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation and Jaintia Youth Federation have threatened to go on agitation if the inquiry report on the Mookhep firing incident on Sept 24, in which two villagers were killed, was not made public by Nov 7.

A meeting, chaired by HANM president Shaniah Suchen, resolved to demand that the inquiry report in connection with the police shootout should be made public on or before November 7, failing which the pressure groups will have no other option but to resort to agitation.

The report should be made public through various forms of media so that people will know what exactly happened, they demanded, and added, “We want to know who killed the two innocent people so that the law can punish them accordingly.”
