NONGSTOIN: Suspected GNLA militants abducted a school teacher of Riangdim on October 31, a delayed report said on Monday.

The victim Nikhil R. Sangma teaches in a school in Riangdim village bordering South Garo Hills district.

Police suspected that the rebel group had served demand notes to Sangma.

“The GNLA militants abducted him after he failed to fulfill their demand,” police sources said.

The family members of Sangma, however, refused to disclose anything to police on this issue.

“We have tried to discuss the matter with Sangma’s family members but they refused to disclose anything,” a police official said adding that the search operation is on to trace the abducted teacher.
