SHILLONG: The hot issue of police charge-sheet against MPCC working president and Cabinet Minister Deborah Ch. Marak is all set to provide fresh ammunition to the Congress dissidents during their meeting with the AICC team which will hold crucial meetings with the State Congress leaders here on November 6 and 7.

The dissident camp, sources said, is likely to raise the issue at the meeting to bring home the old sore point of the style and functioning of the Chief Minister which, according to them, was unacceptable.

While the AICC secretary in charge Vijayalaxmi Sadho will arrive on Thursday, her senior AICC general secretary V. Narayanasami will land the next day and will hold both collective and separate discussions with the state leaders on the ongoing rumblings in the party.

It may be mentioned that on the issue of charge sheet filed against Deborah, the MPCC president D.D. Lapang had said on Wednesday that the matter would be reported to the AICC.

The dissident party leaders have already indicated that after the senior leaders met AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi, the issue of demand for change of leadership has not been discussed in the AICC forum.

A senior Congress dissident leader confirmed that their pending demand for change of leadership will be discussed with the AICC leaders during their stay in Shillong. They would press for a pronouncement by the observer, it was stated.

The AICC general secretary will leave for Tura on November 7 to visit the flood affected areas and also to witness the Wangala Dance. The Chief Minister and the MPCC president are expected to accompany the AICC leader to Garo Hills.
