Congress slogs voice further against Tripura CM on corruption

Agartala:Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) sought resignation of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for not taking administrative action against the accused officials of corruption, which has surfaced recently during special audit of accounts.
Talking to media here on Friday Congress alleged besides, Rs 44 Cr corruption in Bishalgarh block, a huge amount money, sanctioned to Tripura under several central scheme including MGNREGA was found looted out in five more blocks, horticulture department, National Health Mission and forest department in past two years. But the government did not take any action against accused expect Bishalgarh scam.
The administration was compelled to lodge FIR against former BDO of Bishalgarh and incumbent Assistant Director of Information department Bimal Chakraborty because of pressure from the opposition, alleged TPCC Working President Ashis Saha on Friday. “We have exposed the audit report and file noting of the then Finance Minister Badal Choudhury who directed to lodge FIR against Bimal and all other accused persons in May 19 last but Chief Minister Manik Sarkar prevent it and forced to leave him finance portfolio, as Bimal is Sarkar’s close and his brother Amal Chakraborty is the Secretary of DYFI,” Mr Saha alleged.
Manik Sarkar kept the file with him for four months and within few hours Congress moves exposing the detail of the scam, he had allowed administration to lodge FIR but stop police to arrest the accused for more than a month, Mr Saha pointed out.
He however, maintained when Mr Sarkar found all his ways to save Bimal and others were closed and Congress moved to High Court, Bimal surrendered before court with his direction and others are still on run and police is inactive.
“We have specific information, how Chief Minister Mr Sarkar and his party comrades are pressurizing Bimal through police not to divulge the detail of corruption who else had taken money from him and become an approver at least for his future and unless CBI comes, the case will be managed,” he added.
“We demand Manik Sarkar to resign from the post of Chief Minister soon and the government has to make all the internal audit report public and lodge FIR against all the officers accused of misappropriation fund to the tune of Rs 500 Cr so far,” Mr Saha said.
Manik Sarkar is the main source of funding for the party as well as the pleasure trip of party’s top bosses.
“If the total fund given by UPA government in past 10 years to Tripura was utilized properly, each and every citizen of the state would have been well settled and the state would have been one of most developed state in the country but it was not happened because 90 percent of the money has been eaten by CPI-M party and it’s cadres,” Mr Saha underlined.
The party will go for civil disobedience move -ment on November 17 protesting against mis-appropriation of centrally sponsored schemes in different blocks and failure of the government to prevent crime on women and nexus of public servants and CPI-M party in corruption. (UNI)
