AICC team visits flood-hit areas in Garo Hills

Shillong: AICC general secretary in charge Meghalaya, V. Narayanasamy, MPCC president D.D. Lapang, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and AICC secretary in charge Meghalaya, Vijaylaxmi Sadho, visited the flood-affected areas in Garo Hills on Saturday.

The delegation, accompanied by Assembly Speaker and local legislator A.T. Mondal, also visited Phulbari, one of the worst-affected areas.

Later in the day, they attended the Wangala Festival, the annual harvest festival of the Garos, at Tura. Also present were Zenith Sangma, Minister, and other parliamentary secretaries, MLAs and MDCs.

The visit concluded with a party meeting held at Tura and attended by Congress representatives, party leaders and functionaries.
