Govt’s responsibility to provide basic amenities: Tsering

Itanagar:Parliamentary Secretary for Hydro-Power development of Arunachal Pradesh Phurpa Tsering said water and electricity is the right of every citizen and it is the responsibility of every government to provide these basic amenities.
While addressing a gathering in Dambuk in Lower Dibang Valley district of the state on Monday, Tsering, recognising the hardships face by the people of the area assured to set up a Mini-Hydel Project at Sisar (Sissiri) river as proposed by the local MLA Gum Tayeng.
He assured to take up the genuine problem of the area with the government. He announced for sanctioning of Rs 1 Lakh to the chief engineer, Hydropower to immediately start the project. While hearing genuine complaints from the local people that the hydro-power developer in the area namely NHPC Ltd are not heeding to the genuine demands of the local people, the Parliamentary Secretary opined that the NHPC Ltd is disrespecting the MOU/MOA signed between them and the state government by depriving  their due benefits in terms of employment opportunities and others.(UNI)
