CMSAS denial to 18-year-old girl

SHILLONG: Cabinet Minister and Congress MLA from Sohiong, H.D.R. Lyngdoh on Tuesday denied the allegations that he had interfered in the matter of not issuing the Chief Minister’s Social Assistance Scheme (CMSAS) to a physically-challenged girl, Marita Nongrum, since her family had not supported him in the State Assembly election.

Speaking to reporters, he said that the allegations were wild and baseless and added that the Block Development Officer takes care of the scheme and its beneficiaries.

There were allegations from Kynroh Nonglyer village that the 18-year-old physically-challenged girl was denied the Chief Minister’s Social Assistance Scheme since her family had not supported the sitting Congress MLA from Sohiong constituency in the last Assembly election.

“I never interfere in such matters,” Lyngdoh clarified, while adding that the girl should approach him if she was aggrieved.
