Date extended

The Deputy Commissioner in charge and Principal SECC Officer, 2011, West Jaintia Hills, has informed that the Governor of Meghalaya has extended the date for publication of the final list of the Socio-Economic & Caste Census, 2011, in Jaintia Hills District to Nov 18.

Programme

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is organising a three-day capacity building programme about ESD and Towards Green Schools for the eight Northeastern states at NERIE, Umiam, from Nov 11-13 with subject experts Dr. Kavitha Sharma, Prof. Yokesh Kumar, Prof. S.C. Roy, Dr. S.K. Pandey and Dr. Abhay Kumar. The programme was inaugurated by chief guest, Prof. G. Ravindra, former Joint Director of NCERT.

Golden jubilee

Synod College, Shillong will inaugurate its golden jubilee celebration on Nov 14 at Student’s Field, Jaiaw, at 11am. Tura Lok Sabha member P.A. Sangma will be the chief guest while Shillong MP Vincent Pala will be the guest of honour.

Nov 12 will be observed as the Public Service Broadcasting Day to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s maiden visit to All India Radio on Nov 12, 1947. Gandhi had spoken on radio to the refugees from Pakistan, stationed at the camp of Kurukshetra (Haryana). North Eastern Service of All India Radio, Shillong, will be celebrating the PSB Day by organizing ‘Choir Music Festival’ where choir parties from Agartala, Aizawl, Imphal, Kohima and Shillong will be participating. The programme is being organized by AIR in collaboration with the State Department of Arts & Culture at U Soso Tham Auditorium from 4:15pm. Entry is free.
