Shillong: Shillong Lajong and Royal Wahingdoh played out an exciting 0-0 draw in their second leg Imperial Blue Shillong Premiere League match on Friday at Polo Grounds.
Both sides showed promise in the initial half, with a number of shots being taken.
Lajong started off briskly, putting pressure on the opposition early on before Wahingdoh set in. Royal Wahingdoh missed three near scoring opportunities on either half, with the first significant chance coming when Nagen Tamang found himself in front of the keeper.
The forward took a shot wide of goal while Bekay Bawar also failed to capitalize twice as the Reds’ defence, comprising mainly of youth players, did well to deny the Royals a goal and climb to 30 points at the end of their league matches.
While Shillong Lajong have secured top position in the Shillong Premiere League, Royal Wahingdoh and Nangkiew Irat will be looking for a win to stay in the top four.
In a Second Division match, ARC Shillong scraped through with a narrow one goal win over Mawkhar after E. Singh scored in the 51st minute.
Saturday’s Match Fixtures:
SPL – Langsning vs Malki at 2:45 pm
Second Division – Nongthymmai vs Lumshyiap at 3 pm
