Two city women duped

SHILLONG: A woman who had deposited a huge sum of money as booking charge for a hotel in Andaman & Nicobar Islands has been duped.

Police said that one Poonam Singh deposited Rs.1,20,000 in the account of one Vineeth at Punjab National Bank for hotel booking at Andaman & Nicobar Islands on August 16 this year. However, when she enquired with the hotel authorities, they informed her that no booking was made in her name.

She has filed an FIR in this regard at Laban PS.

In another case, a woman has been duped of over Rs.76,000. Police said that one Latifa Begum received an anonymous call, in which the caller claimed himself to be an SBI official and asked the details of her ATM card. Later, she received an SMS that an amount of Rs.76,180 had been withdrawn from her account. The husband of the victim has filed a complaint at Laban PS.
