SHILLONG: The Cabinet was not apprised the chargesheet filed against Social Welfare Minister Deborah Marak since it was a legal matter, according to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.

Deborah was present in the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.

After the Cabinet meeting during the news briefing, a question was asked by a journalist on whether the matter was discussed in the cabinet.

To this, the Chief Minister replied that such legal matter can never be discussed in the Cabinet meeting or at party level. “How can we do it since it s a legal matter?’ he said.

The Chief Minister further asked the journalist, “If you were a minister, do you feel that the issue should have been raised in the Cabinet?

The journalist shot back, “If I were a Minister and if there were such cases, I would have resigned.

Following this, the Chief Minister only looked at the journalist without any reaction.
