Intl Child Rights Day

The Shishu Shiksha Ghar, which has been registered as an organization with the name ‘SPARK-Bringing Light to Lives’, will observe International Child Rights Day with an advocacy programme aimed at addressing the issue of child rights and encouraging all to take part in fruitful exchange on the subject. The ‘SPARK’ will also be officially inaugurated on the occasion. East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal will attend the programme to be held at the KJP Assembly, IGP, Shillong, on November 20 at 11:30am.

Session on RTI

West Jaintia Hills District Administration in collaboration with the Administrative Training Institute organized a one-day interactive session on Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 at the DC’s Conference Hall on Tuesday. The programme was attended by Chief Commissioner Meghalaya State Information Commission, C.D. Kynjing, besides others.

Cooperative Week

The office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Society, Ri Bhoi, on Tuesday observed the 61st Cooperative Week here. The inaugural day saw participation of over one hundred cooperative societies registered in the district. Umsning legislator Celestine Lyngdoh graced the celebration as the chief guest.

Wangala Fest

The 120 Drums Wangala Society of Tikrikilla in collaboration with the Balgito Youth and Cultural Society will organize the 120 Drums Wangala Festival on December 13 at Tikrikilla HS School Playground. 12 Wangala troupes from all over Garo Hills and Assam will participate in the festival.

Function

A State-level function to observe Quami Ekta Week and administering of pledge will be held on Nov 19 at 11am in front of the Main Secretariat.

Meeting

The War Jaintia Youth Social Organisation will hold a general meeting on November 22 at the Seminar Hall, State Central Library, at 12 noon.

Children’s Day

The Margaretian Alumni Association organized a Children’s Day function for under-privileged children on Nov 14. A health and eye camp was conducted on the occasion. The alumni distributed blankets and gifts to the children and organised games for them.
