New Delhi: Two Manipuri students, including a PhD scholar and a Delhi University (DU) student, were found dead at their separate rented accommodations here, police said on Thursday.

In the first incident reported from Kotla Mubarakpur area in south Delhi around 9.30 p.m. Wednesday, the body of Kashung Zingran Kengoo, 33, a PhD scholar from Mumbai’s Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), was found in a pool of blood with his throat slit. The body was found on the floor of his rented accommodation by the house owner’s brother who alerted the police.

The door of the victim’s room was ajar and laptop, mobile, purse and other belongings were not missing, said police.

In the second incident, a 22-year-old student of Aurobindo College here was found dead at his rented house in Malviya Nagar on Thursday afternoon.

Vihrill Shunni, a second year English Honours student was sleeping in his room with his friend and brother who upon waking up discovered that he had died.

No external injury was found on his body. Shunni too hailed from Manipur.

“The door of the room where they were sleeping was locked from inside so outsiders’ role is ruled out…,” said an investigating official. (IANS)
