SHILLONG: The Meghalaya BJP on Friday asked Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to take a cue from former Home Minister Roshan Warjri and resign from his post.

Warjri had tendered her resignation on Thursday due to the worsening law and order situation in Garo Hills.

In a statement issued to the media on Friday, the BJP State Unit welcomed the decision of the former Home Minister (Warjri) to resign from the State Cabinet following her failure to control the law and order situation in the State especially in Garo Hills.

BJP Meghalaya general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty said that the Home Minister’s resignation further exposes the fact that the law and order situation in the State was in utter mess.

“It is almost certain that her conscience did not allow her to carry out the dictation of the Chief Minister who, for his own political gains, has led the Government to take all wrong decisions resulting in the prevailing law and order situation in the State,” Chakraborty said.

“Mukul Sangma, like Roshan Warjri, should own responsibility for the law and order situation and resign from the post of Chief Minister of the State,” he said.
