SHILLONG: A move is afoot on the part of the state government to include Khasi in CBSE syllabus.
Deputy Chief Minister in charge education RC Laloo informed the House during the question hour on Monday that to ensure Khasi is include in CBSE, the Government is working out mechanism .
“The principal secretary in charge education is on the job so that Khasi can be included in CBSE”, he added.
Earlier, during the question hour, the Opposition raised the issue of changing the status of Khasi as MIL subject to an elective subject
The leader of Opposition Donkupar Roy, other UDP members Paul Lyngdoh and Jeminoh Mawthoh raised the issue.
Paul Lyngdoh, pointed out that while a debate is raging in the country on the plan of the Central Government to replace German with Sanskrit, the State education department is doing away Khasi as compulsory subject in the curriculum.
