ANVC-B denies hand in engineers’ abduction

SHILLONG: The ANVC-B has denied its involvement in the kidnapping of an engineer at Rongara.

ANVC-B general secretary Jakrik Wareng said that some miscreants with the sole objective to defame and tarnish the organisation were using the name of ANVC-B to carry out their acts.

“This is done because these were the strongholds of ANVC-B cadres. Series of incidents have taken place after signing the settlement. This is understandable that these acts were orchestrated to occupy the area which was once safely guarded by ANVC-B commander Mokust,” Jakrik said in the statement.

The engineer overseeing the construction of flood lights along the border fencing with Bangladesh – A.K. Srivastava was kidnapped at gunpoint by a group of suspected Garo militants from Rongara border in South Garo Hills on Friday night.
