SHILLONG: The Border Security Force which is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Raising Day is organizing a number of programmes for its personnel and bordering populace to mark the occasion.
A free medical camp for eye care was organized by BSF at Khliehriat, Jowai. During this eye camp, more than 350 patients were examined and given treatment by BSF medical officers.
In another programme, Meghalaya BSF Jazz Band organized a musical programme at Dawki. Hundreds of civilians of the area along with BSF personnel enjoyed this musical programme.
The BSF was raised on December 1, 1965 for guarding the Indo- Pakistan and Indo- Bangladesh border. Since its inception BSF has been keeping surveillance on highly vulnerable International border in the hard and inhospitable terrains of J&K, North East, desert of Rajasthan and the Rann of Kutch.
