32 held in city for binge drinking

SHLLONG: In a continued drive against drinking of liquor in public places, a surprise check was made at Khyndailad on Saturday night.

At around 9:30pm 32 youths were found drinking and indulging in nuisance on the public road.

They were taken to Sadar police station and released on bail bond to their parents / guardians after medical examination. Non FIR case is being taken up against them, East Khasi Hills SP M. Kharkrang said.

Police are also taking up with licensed bars and night clubs on measures to be taken by them to ensure that minors are prevented from visiting such bars and night clubs.
