“We need cooperation in the sectors of security, energy and connectivity for mutual benefit and deve-lopment of both the countries,” said Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, advisor to the Bangladesh Prime Minister. Chowdhury along with his wife arrived here to attend the inauguration of the second unit of 726 MW gas-based thermal power project at Palatana in Gomati district by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.

“Our relation with India is very cordial now and we are cooperating each other. We need to do a lot of cooperation in the fields of connectivity like roads, railways and port,” he said.

When asked about India’s long demand for access to Chittagong port for transshipment of goods in north eastern states, he said, everything is possible on the basis of mutual cooperation.

He said PM Narendra Modi invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed to be present at the inauguration of the second unit of the project at Palatana during their meet in the SAARC conference in Nepal recently and so he was representing his country here. (PTI)
