NSCN-IM leaders Chishi & Muivah arrive in Dimapur
Kohima:The collective leadership of the NSCN (I-M) Yaruiwo (president) Isak Chishi Swu and Ato Kilonser (prime minister) Th Muivah arrived in Dimapur on Saturday after camping in Delhi for the last few months.According to sources on Sunday the two leaders have been camping in Delhi for the ongoing peace talks with the Central Government which has been on a standstill for the last 17 years.Confirming the arrival of the collective leaders, NSCN (I-M) sources said that the leaders have arrived in Dimapur to spend Christmas and New Year with the Nagas in the state. 12-member Myanmar delegation visits Nagaland
Kohima:A 12-member delegation from Myanmar arrived here on Sunday to attend the Hornbill Festival, an annual tourism promotional event showcasing the rich cultural tradition of Nagaland. On arrival, the delegation, led by Chief Ministers of Kachin State La John Ngan Hsai and Sagain Region U Thar Aye, was received by Minister for Forest Dr Niekiesalie Nicky Kire, Commissioner and Secretary YRS Menukhol John and other state officials. During their three-day visit to the state, they will be attending the opening ceremony of Hornbill Festival on Monday along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On December 2, they will be the “honoured guests” of the festival at Kisama and the co-chief guests of Kigwema village gate pulling ceremony. The delegation will also attend the Handshake concert at Raj Bhavan the same evening, official sources said. (PTI)
Leopard captured and caged
Jorhat (Assam): A three year old leopard was on Sunday captured and caged by the district Forest department, four days after it had injured three persons.According to Forest Department officials, the big cat was caged after public complained that it had killed at least six goats and injured three persons in Ladoigarh and Gohaingaon under Jorhat Forest Division.The Forest Department had placed a cage and the male leopard was captured on the fourth day.The leopard was suspected to be coming out from Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary under Mariani forest range.Later, the animal was shifted to World Wildlife Trust of India’s Centre for Rehabilitation and Care at Kaziranga.
