AMEF says it is not part of ARF

TURA: Even as the A’chik Revolutionary Front (ARF) issued a statement claiming that it was comprised of several militant groups in the region including the AMEF, the Jack Marak led outfit has distanced itself from the lesser known group saying that it was in no way associated with it.

In an earlier statement, Lt Chugrim, the Information and Public Relations Secretary of the ARF had claimed that the outfit was made up of several militant groups operating in Garo Hills namely, UALA, LAEF, ASAK, ANLA and the AMEF.

The outfit also claimed that it had not made any demands for money or kidnapping till date and warned of dire consequences if anyone was found to be misusing its name for such demands.

Meanwhile, squashing the claims of the ARF, Niksamso Matgrik, the General Secretrary of AMEF in a separate statement, has categorically denied any kind of involvement with the outfit.

“We do not know what kind of organization ARF is or who its members and leaders are. How can we be a part of something which we understand nothing about? Our name cannot be dragged along with it. The leaders of the ARF should be careful in future,” Niksamso warned.
