SHILLONG: In the Inter District U-19 category Cricket Tournament organized by Meghalaya Cricket Association, debutant East Jaintia winning the toss and electing to bat scored a challenging 142 runs all out in 29.4 overs. Gagansha Tripura made a quick 34 runs off 30 balls while Gloryborn Nongtdu scored a patient 21 runs off 42 balls. Kyrshan Lyngdoh and Bormi Rangad claimed 4 and 3 wickets respectively for AJCA. In reply AJCA could manage only 94 runs all out in 30 overs with D. Lato scoring 15 runs off 31 balls. Arki Pajoh of East Jaintia, in a fiery spell, returned with a rich haul of 5 wickets conceding only 18 runs. East Jaintia Hills won by 46 runs. 25th National Taekwondo C’ship

shillong: The 18th squad of Meghalaya will take part in the 25th National Taekwondo Championship which will be held on December 28-30 in Kolkata. Meanwhile, the Association of Taekwondo Martial Art will organize a selection trial on 12-14 December.
Adhiban beats Kuzubov
Doha: Grandmaster B Adhiban scored his fifth victory on the trot, beating Ukraine’s Yuriy Kuzubov, to grab the joint fifth spot after the seventh round of the Qatar Masters International Open Chess tournament here.Starting with losses in the first rounds of the tournament, Adhiban emerged as the best performing Indian in the tournament after a fine attacking victory against Kuzubov with black pieces. Sharmila, Smriti face Thai at Indian Open women
New Delhi: Ace golfers Sharmila Nicollete and Smriti Mehra will spearhead India’s challenge at the 300,000 dollar women’s Indian Open, which tees off at the Delhi Golf Club (DGC) here on Wednesday. Other Indians in the fray are Vani Kapoor and Gauri Monga and the home golfers duo will face stiff competition from 18 strong Thai professionals, who have a good record in the annual event. Defending champion Thidapa Suwannapura, Florentyna Parker, Connie Chen and Sophie Gustafson, will also be favourites to win the title. (PTI)
