Fire in shophouse kills 3 in Singapore

Singapore: At least three people were killed and nine others injured on Saturday when a fire broke out at a Singapore shophouse, accommodating foreign workers including those from India.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the fire was located in the centre of the unit situated in Geylang Lorong.

The blazes, which began early in the morning, were extinguished within 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire was being investigated. Three people were pronounced dead at the spot while nine others including two fire-fighters injured in the fire were rushed to a nearby hospital. (PTI)
