SCA storm into final

SHILLONG: In the Inter District U-19 category Cricket Tournament organized by Meghalaya Cricket Association, Shillong Cricket Association registered a comfortable win over West Garo Hills in the 2nd semi final match today. Winning the toss and opting to bat first SCA was initially in a tight spot losing 4 wickets for a measly 33 runs. However, Syed Salman steadied the innings and took the team out of the crisis by playing a patient knock and remaining unbeaten on 48 runs(66 balls) while Mukesh Rai supported him with a well made 28 runs(34 balls), taking SCA to a respectable 142 runs for loss of 9 wickets in 30 overs. Elchiang Momin claimed 3 wickets & Nikmanseng Marak 2 wickets for WGH. In reply WGH kept losing wickets at regular intervals bereft of any worthy partnership. Their innings folded with 71 runs all out in 20.3 overs with over 9 overs in hand. Only two batsman Panju Sangma and Elchiang Momin reached double figures of 16 and 15 runs respectively. Manish Rai claimed 3 wickets and Pankaj Mandal 2 wickets for SCA. SCA won by a margin of 71 runs and qualified to meet debutant East Jaintia Hills in the final on Monday.
Junior Judo Championship

SHILLONG: The National Youth & Junior Judo Championship 2014-15 will be held on December 8-10 at JN Sports Complex, Polo Ground. Opening ceremony will be commence on 8 Dec at 9:am and closing ceremony will be on Dec 10. Two groups of judokas will participate in this Championship aged 12-17 for youth and junior category aged 17 – 20 for both girls and boys.
Mumbai boy Dev Shah wins world schools chess title
MUMBAI: The youngest Indian to become a rated chess player, seven-year-old Dev Shah, has become the world champion in the Under-7 category in the World Schools Chess Championships that concluded at Juiz de Fora in Brazil. Dev, a student of Dhrubhai Ambani School, was among three boys who scored the highest score — 7.5 points out of 9 — to tie with Ochirbat Lkhahvajamts of Mongolia and Sindarov Islombek of Uzbekistan.
